Geoff Sykes was invited by the Global Rallycross Championship and the Olsbergs MSE team to test drive the new Supercar Lite rallycross car in preparation for a new support series to be run alongside the GRC Supercars.
Olsbergs MSE was responsible for the majority of the top Global Rallycross cars in 2011 and 2012, including the ones driven by Tanner Foust, Marcus Gronholm and Brian Deegan. Other drivers in this year’s GRC series will likely include Ken Block and Travis Pastrana.
GRC is expected to hold nine events in 2013, including three international Global X Games events, and the races get media coverage through live ESPN broadcasting and huge YouTube, Twitter and Facebook reach. The Supercar Lites series would run at the main national events, in between the Supercar heats.
“The cars are a blast to drive. They are mid-engine, all wheel drive, 300+ hp at a weight of around 2300 lbs,” said Sykes. “Very well built by OMSE and there is great dedication from GRC to developing this series. Stay tuned!”
