July 6, 2013 – Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey, Calif.

Rounds 2 and 3 of the US Touring Car Championship were held at Miller Motorsports Park and at Laguna Seca Raceway on June 23 and July 6 respectively.

At Miller, Sykes won the Saturday and Sunday’s races with no contention, with the ReplayXD/Perfect Fitness/Tour Angle 144 BMW E46 M3 running flawlessly all weekend. “The Miller complex is a very nice facility. One of the classiest we’ve raced at”, said Geoff. “And USTCC do a fantastic job with the series. It’s always a good time at their events!”

At Laguna Seca, Sykes had a cut tire when he went off track to avoid another car, which caused him to start the feature race from the back. During the race, Sykes was able to move up to 3rd and was able to keep his record streak of finishing every USTCC race on the podium.

“It was a hard fought race and we did everything we could. Considering the damage might have been worse, we were lucky to eke out a third place finish.”

Sykes retains his lead in the USTCC GT championship at the halfway point of the season.
